As a youth, Mark Minton developed a deep affection for hunting and dogs, which led him to bring home various hunting dogs and family pets. His love for wildlife led him to pursue a degree in fisheries and wildlife biology at North Carolina State University, where he graduated in 1993. Mark started his professional career as a Wildlife Enforcement Officer in 1997 and later transitioned to a K9 Officer role with the NCWRC in 2004. He and his K9 partner Bonnie attended Vetosa Kennel’s K9 Academy, where they received training and certifications in obedience, tracking, and detection. Vetosa K9 Academy equipped Mark with the expertise and skills to become a successful trainer. After completing the academy, Mark trained numerous dogs, including his own and those of friends. In 2014 Mark relocated to Mocksville, NC, and decided to pursue a career as a professional dog trainer, which led to the establishment of The Dog Deacon Dog Training.
